It’s an editing tactic used by animation studios to perfectly fit an entire season into a perfect count of exact length episodes and with the intended start and stop points in each episode. Personally I would just rather they add in random trivia sequences such as old school Pokemon used to do, or random omake mini theater segments like Shangri-La did recently, or meet the voice actor segments like several anime did in years past, or characters pretending to respond to fan questions at end of episodes like Battle Game In Five Seconds did.
